Brand & website update

Skills & Tools

Brand Design
Web Design

Complete overhaul of a membership organisation’s brand and website, including planning, conceptual ideas and an iterative design process.

Design challenge

ACEVO is the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations. They provide support, development and policy advice to civil society leaders. They were aware of a distinct need to modernise their brand and website. Their current iteration had been around for many years and was considered unsuitable for their modern needs. It did not reflect their values, desired user experience, or technical capability.

New designs were needed to demonstrate their ambition, and to better facilitate the delivery of their services. First and foremost they wanted it to be bold, energetic and vibrant, reflecting the direction their new positioning was heading.

Project notes

Process & solution

I created a brand update that involved an evolution of the logo, married with a bold new look for their visual styling. Big words and statements were placed at the heart of the brand, supported by photos of real people. The website was produced in partnership with DigitalGarden who handled the development and technical aspects.

I focussed purely on the design, which included planning, conceptual ideas and an iterative process to get the details just right. Once the style was agreed we worked with DigitalGarden to oversee the implementation.

Impact & learnings

Mark took the time to really understand the brief, meet different team members and propose new ideas.
